Tattoos and Therapy
We believe deeply in the connection between inner exploration and outer expression. Izzy and Liz Wei bring years of clinical training in psychodynamic and somatic approaches to how they hold space for this process — but what happens at Fox Den is its own thing: guided, intentional, and rooted in ritual, not clinical treatment.
Think of it as therapeutic in spirit, not therapy in practice.
With seasoned tattoo shop owner and artist Aaron Nassberg, we combine tattooing and therapeutic practice to foster insight, claiming, transformation and integration through the discovery and incarnation of messages and symbols received from the unconscious.
The language of our unconscious is often expressed in symbols, from dreams, inner parts, art, visualization and observation. A therapeutic engagement with this language allows us to be more intentional in our self-image and awake to our deeper ways of knowing.
From the artist's perspective, our tattoo retreats reshape the two primary components of the tattoo experience: the consultation and the execution. Psychotherapeutic and divinatory tools elevate the consultation phase, turning the process itself into a key aspect of the experience.
The execution of the uncovered artwork is performed as an articulation of this process at the retreat space nestled in the picturesque Northern California countryside.
